How does PRP work?

PRP contains a high concentration of platelets which play an important role in assisting tissue repair after injury or wear and tear. Studies have demonstrated that after PRP injections, numerous platelet- associated growth and anti-inflammatory factors increase which assist in improving pain and increase flexibility and function in conditions such as degenerative osteoarthritis. Although there is no current link between PRP and cartilage regrowth, there is emerging evidence that several joint and tendon related conditions improve significantly over 1 -2 years.

PRP treatment usually takes around 15 -€“ 30 minutes and is completed in one of our procedure rooms at the clinic. The procedure is usually performed under ultrasound guidance and requires a series of two to three PRP injections a for better and prolonged outcome.
